While I was investigating new (to me) technique of One Block Wonders, I also came across Paula Nadelstern's incredible books and bought this one.
It's certainly complex, and is a different concept to OBWs, as the author uses numerous fabrics and shapes, and no colours/ patterns are 'off limits', just chosen very carefully.
I'm not going to attempt this till I've got into the kaleidoscope idea with Maxine Rosenthal's slightly more accessible book. But I'm so enthralled by Nadelstern's show more snowflakes that I've ordered her book on the subject if only to browse, amazed! show less
Identically pieced but they look amazingly different!"

I have patchworked for many years and thought I knew all about giving same design different looks by choice of tones and colours.
But this book is something else - Nadelstern's puzzle quilts create entirely unrecognisably different blocks while still using the same quite basic designs. There are pages of very interesting and readable advice on colours, show more prints etc. show less
Fabulous designs!

Having patchworked for years, I thought I'd seen all the designs... but this is patchwork on a different level! Using a kaleidoscope idea, the author creates symmetrical and complex forms using six identical triangles - each triangle is composed of a myriad of pieces.
Challenging but SO inspiring - I'm going to attempt one...
