Spirographs have never held my attention for very long. This book attempts to make them more interesting with some technique suggestions and lots of idea prompts, but it still seems like a pretty limited style of drawing, just a step up from stencils or repetitive doodling.
I bought this for $20 along with my copy of "[Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows]" at a Barnes & Noble book release party. It says in the beginning of the book that we each envision the Hogwarts castle differently, and as such, they prefer to provide us with instructions on how to build different parts of castle, rather than have set instructions. However, I didn't find any flaws in those instructions, and they worked rather well. In the back of the book, you can find some ideas for what show more kind of look you want your Hogwarts castle to have. Since I was stressing out over it slighly, I went with the simplest example. At the moment, I'm still attaching different parts of the castle together, but happily, everything is built. It took me perhaps four-in-a-half hours, though it should be noted that I'm rather a perfectionist at times. Once your castle parts are put together to form the completed Hogwarts castle, I would apply some sort of glue on parts of it it to be on the safe side, especially if a child will be playing with it. Without doing so, I'd say the castle would need to stay put and not be moved around. This is something that I would buy for kids, teens, and even adult Potter fans. show less
Easily to follow instructions for several cool paper airplanes plus a bunch of (wildy) printed paper for folding.
