An utterly transporting guide to the city of Kyoto. Durston's writing draws you straight in and makes you feel like you are actually walking the streets yourself. A gorgeous example of armchair traveling.
A collection of quotes and pictures related to the Japanese concept of wabi sabi. The quotes are grouped in the following themes: wabi, sabi, impermanence, imperfection, simplicity, humility, sincerity, harmony, purity, tranquility, and contentment. Ordinarily I'm not a fan of this kind of commonplace book. I picked this up because it was beautiful and some friends are into wabi sabi as a lifestyle; I didn't see that it was mostly quotes. However, I have actually found the quotes to be show more arranged so that they say a lot more together than they do individually. show less
