One of my favorite little books! It has so many lovely sayings that cheer me up and help me throughout the day, I highly recommend this to all dog lovers, and as a gift! It is a little everyday treasure. We really can learn so much from dogs, they are silently wise.

Mom gave a lot of good advice in the post scripts of her letters. This collection is a quick read, but quite thought-provoking. An example: “I’ve never seen a smiling face that was not beautiful.” Keep smiling!
This was a quick, little read—a book written first as a list by the author as he sent his son off to college. His son really liked this idea, kept the list and said he would add to it! Following are some items on the list that appealed to me for various reasons:

32. Once in your life, own a convertible. (I once had a yellow Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible.

53. Vote (What could be more important?!)

92. Never invest more in the stock market than you can afford to lose. (I always say show more this.)

139. Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.

166. Avoid negative people.

252. Take good care of those you love.

276. Patronize local merchants even if it costs a bit more.

293. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Learn to say no politely and quickly.

303. Never go to bed with dirty dishes the sink. (Yikes! I read this last evening and felt guilted into washing the last of the dishes before turning in for the night.)

330. Rekindle old friendships.

433. Have a friend who owns a truck. (I’m trying to keep my husband from selling his.)

472. Enjoy real maple syrup.

510. Count your blessings.
