Short biography
Ruby Side Thompson was unhappily married and the mother of seven sons during World War II. She kept a diary, beginning bore the war, in which she gave a detailed account of her struggles to survive during the London Blitz, with its horrifying nightly bombings. Her pre-war diaries were published in 1995 as Ruby: An Ordinary Woman. In 2013, Ruby's great-granddaughter Victoria Washuk began publishing the diaries of the World War II years in several volumes, under the title World War II London Blitz Diary: A Woman's Revelations Enduring the War and Marriage.
