Ancient Rome (Then and There Series) by Nicholas Sherwin-White

The Then and There series are lovely little books, aimed at middle school kids from England. I love the suggested activities for the kids to learn more, and the information is solid. This actually explained the political structure more clearly than any of the adult books I've read. I think this series is a good way to get the basic information on history fast. The illustrations are better chosen than executed,but not bad.
