“Angel Kisses and Riversong” is a delightful book!

I always get a bit nervous reading books set in my home state. Truly, I vacillate between excitement and anticipation (will they mention someplace I’ve been?) and anxiety (will they get something wrong or portray the city/state like something it’s not?). Thankfully, the entirety of the book was spot on — unnervingly so, in a good way! Bonner captures Wenatchee and Seattle, both the locations and the people who live in each, and show more their spirits.

The story, too, is a joy to read. As we Seattleites mourn the fact that the Seahawks aren’t in the Super Bowl :), I got my perfect football fix, as well as a sweet, God-honoring story. I loved the verse threaded throughout — “A man’s heart plans his steps, but God determines his steps”.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. All opinions are my own.

This book was better than I had anticipated! Brooke is a woman with a scarred past--one that she struggles to let go of despite her innermost desire to move on. She is shipped out west as a mail-order bride, uncertain if the future will be any better than the past. Sky is a man who strikes me as the type of person who believes in truth, justice, and the American way (old-west style, of course). He hopes that somehow he can break through the barriers that prevents him from having the kind of show more relationship he wants with Brooke.

The style of writing is wonderful, the characters are relate-able, and I think you'll be quite satisfied with the story line.

I was very impressed with Zoe and her determination to marry Wash. She pushes aside the fact that when he came back from the was injured, he called off the wedding. He has secluded himself in his little cabin and wants nothing to do with anyone including Zoe. When you want something bad enough, sometimes you do go a little overboard but Zoe is so sure they are to be together.

I was excited to follow their journey and see if happiness would prevail. The emotions are very well written and I show more understood Wash’s hesitation at Zoe’s idea. Get ready for a few surprises in the story and also a little danger. I loved the other story line about a certain someone who wants to force someone off their land. The underhanded things done to achieve this will go against the law. Will someone end up injured or dead from this?

The author keeps us entertained with historical facts that splash across the pages. The meals were simple but filling as everyone pitched in to help provide for their families. Can you imagine having to boil water just to take a bath? I would not do well without a bathroom and an air conditioner. It goes without saying that we have it much easier than people living during the days where you lived off the land.

Get ready for an adventure filled with deceitful people, trust, forgiveness and second chances.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit.The review is my own opinion.

Devynne Lang was a former Hollywood star who, after being stalked and changing her identity, found refuge on the San Juan Islands. When her husband, Kent, (a policeman) is shot, she vows to keep her daughter safe and pretty much leads a secluded life; keeping folks at a distance. Then strange things begin to happen that lead her to believe her stalker has found her. What should she do? She feels like she put her husband at risk and she doesn't want to do that to Carcen. Should she tell him? show more Carcen Lang is the sheriff and he would do anything to protect his beautiful sister-in-law and her daughter. When he finds out she's in danger he promises to stick close and find out who's responsible. As buried feelings begin to rise between Carcen and Devynne so does the danger. Will they figure out who the stalker is before it's too late?

Wow! This was an excellent romantic suspense. The story keeps you totally engaged from beginning to end. The author does a great job of skillfully weaving together all the things I really like in a story; mystery, suspense, romance and splashes of humor. Not to mention several hold-your-breath moments. The characters were all very well drawn and fully fleshed out. I loved the tentative relationship between Devynne and Carcen and Devynne's little girl was delightful. But what I thoroughly appreciated was how the author masterfully kept you from knowing, without a doubt, who the stalker was. I thought I had it figured out a couple times but then evidence would point to someone else. The spiritual thread running through the story was naturally part of the characters lives and realistic. The author used John 15:12-13 "This is my command: Love one another the way I have loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends." I think that verse fit the story very well. I listened to the Audible version of this story and Johanna Parker did a fantastic job of narrating. She really brought the story to life and made it an awesome listening experience. If you're busy and on the go (or even if you're not) I totally recommend the Audible version of The Unrelenting Tide. Get it, grab your ear-buds and see if you know who the stalker is.
