I have read books 1-3 in this series a wee while ago but haven't caught up with books 4-6 so I loved how I felt I hadn't really missed out on anything as there were great short recaps of past events scattered through out the book, I also really liked how Steve and Avery already had a semi established relationship going and I got to dive in when they are deciding to take things to the next level. I really felt for Avery knowing she knew what she wanted but has been manipulated by her mother show more for so long as well as always trying to be the peace maker between her sisters and their, then how Steve wants Avery with him and how he bites his tongue at times when he really doesn't want to. Fortunately both have friends and family to lean on and others make pulling away easy and of course they also have each other and really Avery, Steve and Morgan make the perfect family!

Okay I really loved this book more than I hoped. Callie Taylor is an average 31 year old teacher when her recently deceased mother's best friend informs her that her mother has been keeping a secret about her father. She learns that her father is not dead like she thought but he is in fact presidential hopeful and senator Warren Sherbrookes. This throws Callie's world off balance throw in a sexy Adonis Brit and Callie's world is thrown in a tailspin. Dylan Talbot is instantly suspicious when show more all of the sudden his step father gets a letter informing him that he had a daughter. He intends to get to the bottom of this to she if in fact he is her father and what she wants from Warren. When Dylan meets Callie he can see the family resemblance to his siblings and believes in fact she is Warren's daughter. They both feel instant attraction towards each other and over the course of a few visits he knows Callie is no threat toWarren and he doesn't need to be around but he can't get her out of his head. When Warren's campaign manager asks Dylan to keep an eye on Callie he jumps at the opportunity to spend more time with her. After realizing they have many common interest and have an ease around the other their relationship blooms into something other than friendship. Dylan has been burned before and tries to keep Callie at arms length emotionally but when he is around her he can't seems to feel anything but love and contentment for her. Things go bad when Callie finds out that Dylan has been hanging out with her to make sure she did not spill about being Warren's Daughter even though for him it was not about that. Their brother Jake (I know weird but he is half brother to both) convinces Dylan that Callie is not his ex and that he is in love with her, he realizes that he must fight for the woman he loves. It ends nicely with the couple marring and most of the family accepting her as family (except her sister Sara) and are happy for the two of them.

I love the character and plot development. The book was well paced and no point felt rushed or bogged down. The main characters were endearing felt instantly comfortable reading about them.

I love how Charlie cracks on with things when the hurricane hit while she is visiting home, she is a no nonsense woman so when Jake rocks up and gets hands on instead of just standing there looking pretty she is intrigued and it doesn't hurt that he is hawt. I really like how not only is Charlie trying to work out whether to retire from the Navy but also how she feels about Jake after years of keeping men at arms length. There story is filled with self doubts, attraction, laughs, family show more members you don't always love as well as lies and miss communications so plenty to keep you hooked until the end!

Not a bad read, but everything outside of the main couple is fairly sketchy. You are not given much of a feel for Ryan’s work or the work of Elite Force Security, or indeed of his co-workers. Similarly Kenzie’s personal relationships and work are only thinly described. There is some build up of tension about three quarters of the way through, and then everything is quickly wrapped up and sealed with a bow in no time at all and with very little effort or difficulty on behalf of EFS who show more miraculously solve every problem and leap to the rescue. The simplistic resolution spoils what could have been a much better book. show less
