I really liked this, I was not initially excited to read it but once I got a few pages in, I enjoyed it. I was somewhat taken aback by William Bradford who does seem a zealot, but I suppose you need that to be willing to give up everything and sail to the unsettled shores for a new life.
I really like the way this series of books tells the story of a person’s life. It is told as a very interesting story, rather than just quoting facts. I’m not sure how historically accurate this one is, since Revere’s life has become such a legend, but it gives the flavor of the time. It is wonderful for children who are ready to move on from easy readers to simple chapter books, and especially for those who love true stories.
This is a fascinating story of a very interesting man. It is written for young readers, and though John Smith’s life was quite violent and, at times, bloody, the story is told fairly discreetly. There are a couple of times where it is mentioned that a man was killed, but the mentions are brief.
A fictionalized biography of Marco Polo, with enough extra narration to explain what we know about him. It's a good child's biography, although I would have liked a good bibliography.
