This is a book of compilations, rather than a book conceived and written on a single topic, so there is a certain amount of repetition and a lack of a well-developed argument. Nevertheless, it becomes apparent that President McKay is advocating a life of self-discipline, high ideals, service to others, all built on the foundation of faith in Christ and his gospel. The writing style is somewhat dated, but the underlying ideas still work today.
