As the September 15 beatification nears for Father Basil Moreau, the founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, his story--a story of war, persecution, controversy, and sacrifice--comes to life in this new edition of the biography written by popular Catholic journalist Gary MacEoin. First published in 1962, MacEoin's biography of Moreau is a comprehensive guide to the life of the founder of the global Congregation of Holy Cross. MacEoin's work gives due reverence to Moreau as he offers show more readers a look back at the struggles of this humble French priest. Laying the historical foundation, MacEoin follows Moreau from his childhood to his later years as he founded and led the Congregation of Holy Cross in the wake of the French Revolution and through numerous struggles and triumphs--including the founding of the University of Notre Dame by Edward Sorin, C.S.C. show less
This is a fascinating story of what happens when the Gospel seed falls on fertile ground. It describes how Bishop Samuel Ruiz is building a church that is building life and ending the exploitation of native peoples.
1496 The Inner Elite: Dossiers of Papal Candidates, by Gary MacEoin and the Committee for the Responsible Election of the Pope (read 25 Aug 1978) I thought this a stupid book, but it does gather together a little information on each cardinal under 80. The conclave began today. I predict Albino Luciano, Patriarch of Venice, will be elected and choose to be called Paul VII. If he is not elected, Sebastiano Baggio will be elected and will choose to be called Leo XIV. I believe I'd vote for show more Cardinal Willebrands. I think the unbroken line of Italians should come to an end. But I don't believe it will. show less
