"Three Blind Mice" retold by Blake Hoena teaches its young readers the classic nursery rhyme in the form of a story supported with lyrics and expressive illustrations throughout. I like the repetition of "Three blind mice" and "See how they run!" because it reminds the young readers not only what the title is, but also makes them want to sing along to the story/song. I also liked how the story rhymes with whenever the three blind mice run into a member of the family. The visuals and show more expressions on the face of each family member shows its readers how the characters feel, and is appropriate for the feeling of the story. I especially liked how at the end of the story the lyrics and musical notes of the nursery rhyme were included, along with guided reading activities for readers to complete. The story along with the nursery rhyme makes for a sufficient piece of reading for young readers to become familiarized with the fairy tale we all know and love. show less
I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I just finished reading another Monster book where it was similar in that there was a group of monster characters which were considered different than the others because they didn’t want to be like ‘normal’ monsters. Whereas that one had many elements of bullying and the ‘misfits’ being picked on and abused by their monster society to the point I didn’t feel comfortable recommending it this one earned my definite approval.

I love how though you have this group of show more monsters who do not want to be like their stereotypical counterparts, rather than be upset about it, they embrace their uniqueness and have carved a way for them to fit into their monster society. You have elements of teamwork, friendship, love, and acceptance that as a mother of 2 daughters with Autism I could very easily turn into positive lessons for them and their friends.

The illustrations added a beautiful dimension to this book as they captured the spirit of the characters and made it that much more fun to read.

I would definitely encourage parents to buy this book and enjoy it with your kids particularly during the Halloween season.

Thank you to Netgalley and Capstone for allowing me to review this book.

A graphic novel written in the language of the students learning about the US government starting with the executive branch! No stilted or archaic discussions of the men who were president and what that meant to them and to the general population, but a clear and illustrated presentation in the current US vernacular which makes it all more real to today's kids. Excellent!
The illustrations are fun, simple, brilliantly diverse, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age show more including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone aged 8-111, but especially to a school, church library, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary uncorrected proof EARC on Adobe Digital Editions from Capstone | Capstone Press via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is an excellent graphic novel that depicts the life of Jackie Robinson in an easy to understand, fun to read, and super fast way. The illustrations are clear, clean, and beautiful. The story is compelling and informative. I am a baseball fan so I know about Jackie Robinson's baseball career, but I never knew about his life before his Brooklyn Dodger debut. To tell so much in such a low page count is a truly remarkable feat. I highly recommend this graphic novel for sports fans of all show more ages who want to know more about Jackie Robinson, one of baseball's greatest players. show less
