National Geographic Kids Everything Weather: Facts, Photos, and Fun that Will Blow You Away by Kathy Furgang
This book is about the crazy things that happen at certain times and certain days. Fun facts about certain places with weather interesting weather events took place like the Empire state building. It also explains how nature protects frogs from the dangerous weather. They use mushrooms as umbrellas to protect them from the rain. The dangerous things that happen with weather are a few things like tornadoes or twisters, wildfires, floods, lightning storms, and droughts. Lightning storms show more happens when ice particles produce a positive and negative charge by coming together and shooting down electricity. Tornadoes are funnels of air that can pick up and destroy anything depending on the level of wind speed. The stuff that usually happens with weather that isn’t so dangerous is snow, sleet, rain, and ice rain.
My opinion on this book is i thought it was fascinating because it is telling me thing i need to do to protect myself from dangerous weather events. I also learned how to figure out what to do if a really dangerous weather event happens. So now if a dangerous weather event happens someday I will evacuate with my family to somewhere safe. Another thing i liked about this book is that i learned how some animals survive this dangerous weather. show less

I really liked this book for multiple reasons. First, I like that the pictures really go along well with topics of each section. The pictures are informational and add extra support to the text. For example, on one page there is a photographic diagram of a $100 bill. Each part has a dot pointing to the part of the bill and with it goes a text box that has information regarding that particular part. Second, I like how the book is separated by individual topics because it makes it very show more accessible and easy to understand. The written text provides a variety of examples that fall under each category. For example, under the category "Crimes, Heists, and Scams", they provide an example of just how much money is lost each year due to different crimes. For instance, $1 Trillion is the annual amount lost worldwide from internet fraud. The main message of this book is to provide people with general knowledge and interesting facts on anything related to money. show less
National Geographic Kids Everything Weather: Facts, Photos, and Fun that Will Blow You Away by Kathy Furgang
This is a really cool book. The author worked with former National Geographic Explorer Tim Samaras to discuss how weather impacts our lives. Math problems (note round up the number for the math answer), movies, it is just a cool book. And the essay by Tim on why he does his work...this book is for all ages and anyone who wants to be a weather geek.

I liked this book for many reason. The writing style of the book is that of informational text. there were short paragraphs with brief informational about the specific weather topic, but the book is mainly full of text features that allow readers to best understand the text and what is weather. Captions, bold text, titles, subtitles, glossary, and table of contents. These features really assist children to decode the text and understand it. The illustrations are essential for children to show more understand examples of these weather patterns. Photographs, diagrams and drawings are great illustrations for the children to use to put meaning to the text. The main idea of this book is just to explain weather in terms for children to understand. show less
