We didn't need another Quiet Place movie, especially not a prequel. But this manages to be its own movie despite the awkward limitations of the premise.

3/4 (Good).

It's at least as good as the first movie, although I don't see how that gives it a reason to exist. The opening flashback sequence demonstrates that there's a lot of great stuff that can be done in this universe, but these characters' story was over at the end of part 1.

3/4 (Good).

It's very effective at being tense and scary. It's not so great at the sci-fi/fantasy/adventure stuff that I usually like about the monster movies that I like. There's a lot of cringing.

It's a disaster movie with aliens. I could not get as close to the characters as in the first two movies. The main character [SPOILER] was dying of cancer, so she had nothing to lose.This made it hard for me to empathize with her. Also the cat appeared and disappeared and it sometimes was not clear how it kept with the characters. Possibly Cheshire breed. The cat was a great character. Acting and cimematography was excellent.
