This book is about a day in the life of a friendly bee, cleverly named Bea. Little Bea wakes up and goes to visit her friends. Everyone is happy to see her as she plays games and moves from friend to friend. The characters include: Little Bea, a butterfly, owl, goose, beaver, rabbit, bear, deer, mouse, cricket and firefly. As a read aloud, this book lets the adult make plenty of animal and bug noises. The text includes rhymes and nature sounds (like pitter-patter). Sure to please show more toddlers. The graphics are computer generated, but I would argue that it takes some talent to bring these characters to life in a toddlers world. The animals are cute, fuzzy and the story is happy. The background consists of sunshine, trees, hills and flowers. There is no clear message, however, the animal sounds will probably suffice to its intended audience. The bright colors and cute animals will attract youngsters. It works as a bedtime book because the Little Bea goes to bed after a busy day. A good example to read to children that EVERYONE needs to go to sleep. It would also be an attention getting book as a read aloud to preschool aged children. This book would make for a good board book and it would work in a public library or a preschool library. show less

A second adventure for Little Bea and her friends. Instead of a spring day, this adventure takes place in the winter on a snowy day. Little Bea looks out the window and sees a new snowfall. She is excited and goes outside to get all her friends: Bear, Rabbit, Beaver, Owl, Deer, Goose and Duck. When they are outside they have all sorts of adventures. They stomp, flap, make snow angels, catch snowflakes, go sledding and ice skating, have a snowball fight, show more play hide and seek, make a new friend by building a snowman and end their day with some hot chocolate.
The illustrations are created in a graphic design program. They are cute and I think they will appeal to the preschool crowd. They are designed to be very adorable, with big eyes and different textures and patterns on their clothes. The message seems to be about enjoying friendships. It not written in a poetic way. The sentences do not flow together in rhyme. Reading the story out loud is a bit choppy. But with the bright colors and friendly animal faces, I am sure it will appeal to little readers. They might be excited about seeing Little Bea in a new adventure if they read the first book. I think this book would be best for individual reading. It would also look nice on a book display in the library; either a bee theme or a winter theme. show less

Follow Little Bea as she plays in the snow. This book is a great read to 1-3-year-olds, beautiful illustrations and simple words make this a great read aloud book.
A little bee goes outside to play in the snow with her friends, they play outside all day together and then decide that they are going to make a new friend. They made a snowman and that was there new friend. I would use this book in my classroom to show that there is always room to make a new friend. This book would be good for grades kindergarden - first grade.
