A interesting little book written, it appears, as a reader for upper primary school students; questions appear from time to time in the text to prompt the reader to reflect on the differences between life now and then. It tells of daily life in Elizabethan England, firstly basing itself in Lincoln, and then in London. It covers the life of adults and children, at school, in church, at the markets and at home, as well as at the theatre. Extracts from contemporary diaries are used to great show more effect.
Illustrated with etchings of figures and scenes of the time.
Although my copy is from 1961, the text is not dated (at least for one not residing in the UK). show less
