E. Jane Mall is the busy wife of a U.S. Army chaplain stationed in Nelligen, Germany.
In addition to her writing interests and her active participation in church work, Mrs. Mall and her husband are adopting three children - two German youngsters, brother and sister, 5 and 6, and a Chinese-American girl, 10. Mrs. Mall comments that it is much more difficult now to find writing time for her second book.
Born in Chicago in 1920, E. Jane Mall has spent most of her life in the Midwest. Accompanying Pastor Mall to parishes in Oak Forest, Ill., and Goshen, Ind., she also served as housemother for a year at a children's home in Waverly, Iowa.
Mrs. Mall contributes regularly to the mission publication Outlook and is currently writing a series of articles entitled "The Journal of a Chaplain's Wife". - Nationality

I liked the book, because I was interested in the story of Martin Luther's wife. I did not like the style of the book which was written at perhaps sixth grade level with rather repetitive, simple dialog. The author stated at the beginning that there was not much information available on Katharine Luther so I suppose it was rather difficult to flesh out the story. I did appreciate that it was written as a novel which made it more interesting than if it had been just the facts.
Katherine Luther or Kitty was the woman behind the great man Martin Luther. Kitty mellowed Luther's harsher side, kept the household from bankruptcy despite her husband's generosity and enhanced his life with the joys and fullness of family living.
Story of a marriage with an unromantic beginning, but soon held together by bond of love.
