Williams Sonoma Essential Recipe Collection for Today's Home Cook is a beautiful book with color photographs on every, single page. It's an interesting collection of recipes that ranges from very basic, standard recipes like Chicken Pot Pie and Proscuitto-Wrapped Melon Balls to very unusual, exotic ones like Peach and Pistachio Cobbler and Duck Lasagne with Chianti Wine Sauce. Here's what I've tried so far: Polentina with Bananas and Maple Syrup - Wow! This recipe alone makes the book worth show more having. This is the most amazing warm breakfast cereal, and the bananas and maple syrup are the perfect finishing touches. I used 1% milk and it was a very healthy and filling breakfast. This has become my snowy Colorado morning standby.
Lamb Chops with Balsamic Sauce -Another wow recipe. The sweetness of the balsmic compliments the gaminess of the lamb nicely. It's quick and easy and definately company-worthy. My husband devored his and requested that it be put in the regular rotation.
Roasted Asparagus with Hazelnut Vinaigrette- I made this walnuts and walnut oil because I had them on hand. Yet another winner! I'm always looking for new ways to cook asparagus. The rich nuts and tangy vinegar gave this dish a nice depth of flavor. I'll make it with hazelnuts next time.
Corn Bread with Dried Blueberries - My first less than amazing recipe from this cookbook. Nothing wrong with it, I just didn't really care for the sweetness of the blueberries in the cornbread.
All-in-all a great cookbook! I may start giving this as a wedding present or as a house warming for first time home owners.

Authorized by the makers of The Instant Pot, The Instant Pot Cookbook from the Williams Sonoma Test Kitchen is a small collection of recipes designed to make the most of your Instant Pot. Small yet perfectly formed, this book offers over 20 recipes expertly designed by the Williams Sonoma Test Kitchen.

The introduction includes In Praise Of The Instant Pot which highlights the features of the device. Cooking With An Instant Pot covers the various functions available as well as a brief show more introduction to the LCD display.

The Instant Pot Primer includes several handy tips for basic usage in the various settings. This section also includes a few tips and troubleshooting suggestions.

The recipes themselves each include an introduction and serving size. While they are not simple recipes, none of them are overly complicated.

For the most part, the ingredients required throughout the book are easily sourced. The directions are all easy to follow detailing specifically which functions to use for the Instant Pot, and how.

Most of the recipes are accompanied by a full-page photograph of the finished dish. The back of the cookbook contains several basic recipes as well.

The prep time required for most is minimal as is the active time as well. Many of them use the pressure cooker function to good advantage allowing you to walk away during that time. This allows you to create a gourmet looking meal without too much stress.

Small But Perfectly Formed

This recipe book, although small, is packed full of excellent information. The Instant Pot Primer is an excellent go-to reference. And while there are only 20 or so recipes, the selection is excellent.

1) Make a turkey
2) make hash from the leftovers
3) make soup from the carcass.
Made the soup. Basic, simple, nothing special.
Second time, turkey legs and neck, straight to soup. Still basic, simple, nothing special.
Third time, turkey leg, upped the stock ingredients.
I've read this before, and I'm pretty sure that I own a copy. I really ? this series.

There are photos for each & every recipe & they are not that ugly unappetizing yellow/orange tint either, the paper is glossy, Instructions are easy to follow, ingredients are easy to find (you even have a choice of making your own pasta or not), and the font is easy to read. Each recipe has a short paragraph introducing the dish.

Contents include: Introduction; Equipment; Dried pasta shapes; making fresh show more pasta; making filled pasta; Cooking & storing pasta; 4 recipe sections; Glossary; Acknowledgements; and Index.

Recipe sections are & include:

Dried Pasta: Fettuccine w/ roasted garlic & chili; Rigatoni w/ white beans & tomatoes; Fusilli salad w/ sweet peppers & mozzarella; Linguini w/ basil sauce; Farfalle w/ walnuts & lemon zest; and Penne w/ asparagus.

Fresh Pasta: Curry flavored fettuccini; Fresh basil pappardelle; Tagliatelle w/ smoked salmon & fennel; Taglierini w/ sauteed scallops; and Fettuccine w/ shrimp & broccoli.
