This book is interesting and it a good inspirational book. This book is a good example of not giving up on dreams.

Children interested in football will enjoy this book and it can be used when teaching about motivation.
Summary:
This story is a biography about the great Sammy Sosa. It tells how he started in his baseball career. HE grew up in poverty and worked his way up. He was born in the Dominican Republic. Sammy's mother Lucrecia was a widow when Sammy was only seven she supported seven kids working as a maid. When Sammy wasn't helping his mother he played baseball in his free time, he didn't have money for baseball equipment so he made his own. He didn't start playing with an organization till he was show more fourteen years old. At the age of sixteen he was attracting major league scouters. He arrived in the U.S. at the age of seventeen and spoke no English and his first team he played for was the rangers.

Personal reaction:
This story tells students that he just wasn't born with a gift to play baseball he worked he was from the bottom to the top.

Classroom extensions:
1.Have my students make their own biography of their life.
