John Boardman and Brian Sauser in their book "Systemic Thinking" take what could be a dry and confusing subject and explain it clearly and with wit. Quite an accomplishment! The authors take the reader through a methodical explanation of the systemic perspective. They use a wide variety of examples drawn from business, government, film, literature, and other disciplines. They provide a clear description of the difference between systems and systemic. Systemic thinking considers the show more relationships between multiple systems. The second half of the book instructs on how to create systemigrams—a map of the relationships between systems. This part of the book is more challenging, but the authors apply their clear writing and humor to guide the reader through the intricacies of the mapping process. Readers will not become masters of creating systemigrams by simply reading the book but will have the basics needed to begin to experiment with the process. The authors help to bring simplicity to complexity and in a way that makes it enjoyable for the reader. show less
