An absolutely amazing book! I just swallowed it over 2 long nights and definitely will buy a paper copy to keep on my table for a first month or two of doing electronics. While not being a perfect book on robot building, it serves an excellent practical and simple introduction to electronics yet with advices full of wisdom of a seasoned professional.
I've built the elementary robot following this book's instructions. The book is very clear, even for complete beginners. But the robot is not very smart, being based on analog devices only.
I bought this book on-line from B&N. When it arrived, I thought it was too elementary and I may have wasted the purchase. However, after reading it, I find it to be a great introduction to the field. Plenty of basic steps with math and rational behind them. Recommended for those looking begin building robots. Note: this book barely mentions microprocessor; he is covering basics, not programming.
