Short biography
Robert Cohen was a French historian of ancient Greece. In World War I, he served in the French Army, was seriously wounded, and was decorated for bravery. Cohen was a professor at the Lycée Henri IV in Paris. He worked with his former teacher, Gustave Glotz, and Pierre Roussel on the four volumes of the Histoire générale dealing with Greece (Histoire grecque, 1926–38). His other works included La Grèce et l'hellénisation du monde antique (1934) and Athènes, une démocratie de sa naissance à sa mort (1936).
