The British Landscape by John Davies
British landscapes: sometimes elegiac, sometimes beautiful, never pretty or sentimentalized; definitely not a souvenir album. The reproductions are large and in contrast to much other recent gigantism in book design, here the large size is merited. Composition and detail repay study, and then you read Davies' explanation and often discover an unexpected dimension as well.
