This book was exactly what I hoped it would be as far as exploring the ideas I hoped it would explore. There were times when the battle between good and evil seemed to be portrayed a bit simplistically, but I came to feel that could be viewed as a strength in its own way. It didn't set out to show us exactly what the pre-mortal world was like--no one can know that. But it was a very interesting glimpse. I always wanted a peek of what Lucifer might have been like, and I enjoyed reading his show more ideas. There was something about the writing that at first struck me as amateur, but then I decided it had its own style about it. Something about it seemed fresh, unpretentious. And I decided I really loved it. show less
In order for freedom and democracy to survive, injustice must be defeated. It will not simply disappear. It must be cast aside." p.282

This is the premise of the book.

"We are living a life that the vast majority of the earth's historical inhabitants could not have imagined, a life they never could have hoped to enjoy." p. 282

This is the miracle.

The more I read, the more I am struck by how hopelessly uneducated I am when it comes to world history. I was familiar with only 2 of the 7 events show more discussed in this book. It is inspiring, and well documented. And although some reviews spoke of over dramatization, I felt that the point was to prove the miracle. These events truly changed history. There is no question of that. Was it a miracle? You decide! show less
Not a fan of the format. He tends to go all textbook-y (which I like, apart from the direct quotes) and then goes all fiction-y trying to imagine what really happened. Pick one and stick with it. Needs a different editor. Good idea though and interesting food for thought.
This book got a bit more political (well, a lot) and I still find some of the situations cliche and simplistic. Actually, I don't mind simplistic, I appreciate it, especially when it comes to politics. Just, sometimes it felt too cliche to be believable. But it was still very good and I really enjoyed the read.
