While going through a cabinet containing illustrated books, I came upon this gem. The text and illustrations are lovely. I finished it and then quickly re-read it. It begins with

"If you go down in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise."

"If you go down in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise' For Ev'ry Bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic."

The illustrations are eye catching and lovely. The bears in action show more are fun and very playful. And, there are lots of marvellous things to eat!

Lately, I've found stellar illustrated books that I will put aside in a special place to re-read and keep. This will be one of those that I cherish.

This is a cute story. It's a story told to inform children what their teddy bears do when the they're not around. The illustrations are great and help tell the story of a grand outdoor picnic in the woods. In the classroom setting this book can be used as a reason for students to bring in their favorite book and have their own picnic with classmates while the teacher reads the story.
The Teddy Bears' Picnic tells that one day teddy bears hold a picnic party and what do they do in the picnic. I like this book because it is very cute and easy to understand.I would use this book in my teaching. This book is good for beginners and kindergarten readers.
The legendary Jerry Garcia joins with David Grisman to create a down-home, Dixieland version of this classic song. A cassette recording is packaged in the back of this new picture book version of everyone's favorite picnic in the woods. Best-selling artist Bruce Whatley has created a rollicking collection of singing, dancing and picnicking teddy bears with a slight 60's twist. So come along -- it's time for the Teddy Bears' Picnic!
