Certainly one of the best tennis books ever, and maybe one of the best sports books ever. South African Gordon Forbes shares his story of being a globetrotting tennis pros in the late 50s and early 60s, just before the dawning of the big-money open era. Definitely not your typical sports hero book - much more nuanced and reflective, placed against the backdrop of the great tournaments and great cities of Europe.
A colorful and amusing glimpse into the tennis circuit in the 1950s and 60s. An autobiographical account by a writer who is a natural. Interesting, comic and vivid.
