This book was great for easing someone like me into the basic concepts of radiation. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned that they think the book is written from an anti-radiation POV. I did notice that, but I recommend reading it with a critical mindset because Biddle does a good job introducing one to radiation concepts in an accessible way. I noticed a lot of incomplete explanations but it only makes me want to go find a good textbook or go on a wikipedia bender.
Ever want to get to know your friendly neighborhood ebola? Or how about the syphalis down the street? Rather than just presenting dull facts, information about reproduction and gram stain information, this book tells the story of what diseases have done in history, how they spread, and what they can do to a person and community. Entertaining without getting gross.
