I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I know that my family has problems with hanging on to stuff, but after reading this book, I realized I had areas that needed improving. I would read a good tip, bookmark the page, and go do what the page suggested. It really is a great how-to guide to get your life back in order. It made me realize that tons of pictures left behind are not going to mean much to my children, nor are all their little treasures saved from childhood. I would rather see items now show more go to a good home or a good charity versus letting them rot and go out of style. This book really makes you think, even if you are already fairly organized. Great job! show less

How to Organize (Just About) Everything: More Than 500 Step-by-Step Instructions truly covers "just about" every dang thing a person would need to organize. From the common, "37 Conquer Clutter," to the rare, "472 Fight an Ebola Outbreak," I daresay if you want a general overview on how to organize or plan it, the steps are in this ginormous guide.

I found the action plans too broad for my style, but I guess "broad" had to be expected from a book covering such a wide range show more of activities. Contents were organized into:

* Get Organized
* Life's Nitty Gritty
* Daily Debris
* Heart & Home
* Yard & Garden
* Storage Solutions (I found several nuggets of useful info)
* Education & Career
* Business & Work (I found several nuggets of useful info)
* Financial Plans
* Family Affairs
* Food & Entertaining
* Celebrations & Events
* Community Works (I found several nuggets of useful info)
* Travel & Adventure
* The Unexpected (This is where Terrorist Attacks, Ebola, etc were listed)
* In Your Dreams

And the Index was quite useful.

I'd recommend this book more to the person looking for a quick, all-in-one reference guide for a specific project than the person looking for an in-depth how-to.

This is a great book even if you're not a hoarder. We're in the process of reallocating space in our house, and I thought it'd be nice to have some guidance so we don't get trapped in the same "too much stuff!" place. There are times when it's a little heavy-handed - no, I'm not going to limit my crafts to three at a time, and no, I'm not going to throw away my craft supplies if I haven't used them recently. Also, I wish there was more of an emphasis of recycling your junk and how to deal show more with the guilt of throwing away so much. But it's a really fast read and will make you think before bringing something new into the house. show less
I can't think of a thing I did not like about this book! Okay, the parts about kids didn't apply to me, but it was still interesting to read about it. I never realized clutter had this much control over other parts of life. Since reading this book I am determined to make my home more clutter free. It helped me see a lot of areas I need to work on, and helped me rationalize throwing away things I never would have had the nerve to throw away before. It's also written in very readable language. show more I promised this book to a friend so I read it quickly, but I wish I could keep it longer and savor the reading! show less
