When Sugar Anne Spicer Herndon's husband cleans out her money and jewels and leaves town with his mistress after embezzling a fortune from clients the Pinkerton Agency thinks she knows where he and the money went. Webb McQuillan, Texas Ranger, takes on the job of following her undercover for the Pinkertons. Sugar is determined to track down her husband and return the money. But she is broke and heads to Galveston first to ask her cousin for funds. The visit to Galveston reveals another plot show more to unravel with Webb getting drawn deeper and deeper into Sugar's life. This had great secondary characters and humor. Fun story. show less
