This book is a disgrace. It is nothing but propaganda on behalf of the pro-gun lobby in the USA. It is extremely badly written, and much of it reads like a manual for gun owners. I thought I was getting a bargain when I saw an 860-page hardback on sale for £1 on a table outside a bookshop in London - now I know why it was so cheap. I've only given it 1/2 star because there is no zero (or -5, for that matter). This is one of very few hardcover books that I have ever thrown away in disgust.

Unintended Consequences is a decently written book with a coherent theme. It is unapologetically pro gun, pro second amendment. I found it to be an interesting story that made me think about gun policy and bureaucratic feature creep. With some reservations considering the political and gun advocacy position of the book, I would not hesitate to recommend this book as a good story and a good read. I do not recommend the book for those who think guns are bad, no discussion allowed. The same show more goes for any one whose blood pressure goes up in any political discussion. The half star review on this book is obviously driven by hatred of the pro gun theme and not the literary merits of the book. show less
Extremely well-conceived & -written scenario mixing real history [present day at time of writing] with plausible projections to create excellent modern fiction. Unfortunately, my copy was never returned when I loaned it out. [sigh] But that *does* say something for the quality of the read! ;)
This book is a 680 page narrative of the far right pro gun, pro little government viewpoint. I was entertained by the book, but do not agree with it's political stance. I think it might even be useful for bad actors in some ways unfortunately. I also think the author wrote it for like minded people to learn from.
