The illustrations in this book are enchanting. But what sets this book apart from other ABC books is that each letter page is connected to the next, creating an entire story. ABC books usually just have a letter and a picture that only has to do with that letter, so there's no story and is uninteresting to children long-term. This book has a sweet story about painting that would be fun to read for years. This would be a perfect addition to a kindergarten classroom.
"White Rabbit's Color Book" tells the story of a white rabbit who encounters three tubs of pain: one red, one yellow and one blue. Rabbit starts off my jumping into the yellow tub and is satisfied. But before he jumps into the red tub, he forgets to wash off. Then Rabbit discovers that yellow and red make orange! Rabbit continues to jump into the other tubs and eventually makes green, purple, and brown.
"White Rabbit's Color Book" is a perfect introduction to the color wheel for young show more students. The simple language and simple plot is appealing to children. I like the fact that the illustrations have no background. In my opinion, this will help younger students focus on the science information rather than be distracted by overbearing illustrations.
One activity that could done with young students is to make a color wheel. Instead of being a standard circle, the wheel could be drawn in different shapes with my help. I would explain the color wheel as I have them paint a certain color and show them how to mix the colors. Another activity would include the students identifying the correct colors to mix. I would pass out construction paper to all the students that was red, blue, or yellow. I would ask the class, “If you can make the color purple, come to the front.” So the “blue” students and the “red” students would walk to the front of the classroom and make the color purple with finger paint. The process would repeat until all the secondary colors were created. show less

I have fallen in love with the Little Rabbit Books! This book about colors is a lot of fun because the rabbit discovers mixing colors by getting into them, so it'd delightfully messy which kids would love! It would be a great introduction to a unit on colors where kids got to mix fingerpaints together.
Take a spooky walk home with Mouse and Mommy on Halloween night. As scared Mouse's imagination runs wild, thinking the forest is full of magical monsters, Mommy reassures Mouse to "Look again. It's only..." This stop and predict format with alliterations makes this picture book a perfect DLTA (Direct Listening-Thinking Activity) on every page. There's also a hidden fairy illustrated on each page, which is fun to have children find throughout the read!
