This was a highly entertaining look at grammar and usage. It strikes a good balance between rules that are important to know "so you don't look daft" and recommendations that can be more flexible depending on the situation. I found the chapters dealing with misused or confused words to be particularly useful; there were some words that caused me to sit up with a start, wondering "Have I misused that word before?" Now I'm cringing on behalf of all possible documents in which I may have show more misused some words. That chapter alone will earn this book pride of place on my editorial reference shelf. show less

And at least half a star more. Four stars needs more emotional commitment from me than I can give to grammar but I learned a lot and I promise to try and apply the lessons learned. Very entertaining as well.
