This is subtitled 'The Complete Book of Gardening Techniques' and does what it says on the tin! A really comprehensive book covering anything and everything you want to tackle in the garden from planting to landscaping.

There is a useful guide at the beginning to everyday and specialist equipment. The book then moves on through soil types, propagation, garden planning, hard landscaping, lawns, borders, water gardens, alpine gardens, container gardening, vegetables, herbs, fruit, greenhouse show more and coldframes, pests and diseases and, finally, jobs for each season.

Now I have this book, I honestly think I can prune out a few other books on similar topics and just keep this.

I'm a big fan of Geoff Hamilton and this tv tie-in book pulls together brilliantly all the information from the BBC series. The tv series was not quite completed at the time of his death, in fact his twin brother narrates some sections which had not been recorded - but the book had been completed.

If you are looking to build a garden which is a hideaway from neighbours, the outside world or just a secret paradise, then do consider this book. Full of ideas for planting for colour and scent or show more for various moods, there is something for everyone here. show less
This is a brilliant book that ties-in with the tv series (available on DVD).Full of great ideas on how to make a beautiful - but highly productive - garden, it is especially relevant with soaring food prices and over-reliance on supermarket supply chains.

Geoff was a great presenter and his warm style comes through in this book. Highly recommended.
An interesting look at how to garden organically on a fairly small scale, it's full of helpful hints and tips and is well grounded in reality instead of relying on a huge garden and a lot of time.
