Beautiful bodies by Gerald Stone

The book recounts the disastrous voyage of the convict transport Amphitrite and seeks to reconstruct the lives of some of those on board. Very well written and researched, this is the sort of book that makes me very angry as the entirely preventable tragedy unfolds and corruption, incompetence, arrogance and bureaucracy bring about the deaths of 102 women and their children.
