Amazing World Stars & Planets
Discover 23 Incredible Objects from Space
by Paul Beck
This is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary.
I love science and have always looked for science kids books for my kids and grand-kids. This is one of the better beginner books for stars and planets I have found. Not only does it have the gorgeous bright pictures but it gives the information in small, easy-to-digest bites. It enough information but doesn't go over board. It also gives show more INTERESTING INFO, not the same old stuff, but tidbits that kids might find fun. The amazing nebulae I could look at all day! The bonus for kids are the glowing stickers! show less
***This book was reviewed for Quarto Publishing via Netgalley

This nifty little read by Paul Beck is a (very) brief introduction to objects in our universe. The first several pages look at the planets of our solar system, and some of the more familiar moons. Comets are briefly discussed, followed by six different nebulae, and three different galaxies. Throughout are beautiful pictures, often taken from telescopes that see wavelengths we cannot with our naked eye.

I didn't know we had 'ice show more giantsโ€™ as well as 'gas giantsโ€™! There is also an introduction to other dwarf planets of our solar system. I found it fascinating that Pluto and it's 'moonโ€™ are now considered a twinned or double planet system, since Pluto and Charon both are now considered dwarf planets. I read this book with my cubs. We all enjoyed the nebulae most of all. These pictures are the most stunning, and these sections are the ones with all manner of star info.

Complete with real pictures, Beck captures the ocean's scariest and most dangerous predators, in a book whose layout makes two predators come face to face. The author highlights each predator's strengths and weaknesses giving a quick fact about them. At the end of the book, the final results of who wins are provided.
The book allows the reader to enjoy reading facts about each predator and predicting the winner through a series of statistics and abilities of each animal.
This book will interest even the most novice of engineer wanna-be's. The photos are large and use both pages sideways. It has a rendition of the new 1 World Trade Center being built in New York and airier, bigger, smarter, and more practical buildings that are being built and will open in the next 5-6 years around the world. The information includes Vital Statistics, interesting facts, and how they were built. It also takes a look at some historical buildings in the world.
