An excellent work that ties together church history and liturgical traditions. White formulates seven major liturgical traditions that have developed within Christianity. I have used this book as a primary text in an introductory seminary course on worship.
Interesting chapter n the liturgical establishment, but there was nothing on folk music, a big over-sight in 1976.
An all-time classic on the nature and history of Christian worship.
