These essays were written in response to Mark D. Jordan's The Silence of Sodom, which it would be a good idea to have read before embarking on this book. Most of the essays are written from the perspective of glbt people who still wish to be in dialog with the Catholic Church and wish to see it reformed. A lot of the analysis is very post-modern leading to a fair amount of muddy thinking. In particular, I was somewhat shocked at the inability of the writers to learn from the lives of gay show more Catholic clergy who have challenged the Church in the past, particularly John McNeill. Why they continue to think this organization can be changed is beyond me.
