- Elizabeth, Lady Hamilton, is an historical biographer. She married Sir Richard Hamilton, 9th baronet, who inherited Walton Hall in 1961. There Lady Hamilton discovered a vast cache of 19th-century papers that she used as the basis of a book about the previous owners of the house called The Warwickshire Scandal (1999). Many of her other books concern 17th-century figures such as Queen Henrietta Maria and Barbara Villiers, Countess of Castlemaine.

Born 1662, took as husband William of Orange. Mary II was attractive, artistic, beloved, and wielded influence over her husband in affairs of state, to good effect. She was at the center of the Catholic-Protestant conflict previously led by Cromwel's puritans, and was forced by circumstance to become a queen. Died childless after pregnancies and miscarriages, universally beloved.
