Oh, what a beautiful book this is! What a beautiful, beautiful book. It is an absolute treasure. A kind of mythical autobiography with shades of early Vonnegut (Sirens of Titan), we follow the title character from birth to death on his journey of "awakening." Not so much a fictional memoir nor a traditional bildungsroman, DeMatteis aims more for a portrait of life, covering each lesson learned at every stage in Moonshadow's life and always building on the past. Incredibly moving, profound, show more charmingly whimsical, colorfully creative, nostalgic, inspiring and splendidly illustrated. Beginning in Brooklyn and ending in Eternity, this is one of the most utterly encompassing, transcendent books I have ever had the pleasure to read. "The misery, the ecstasy, the infinite restlessness and the infinite calm:" yes. show less
A decent enough story, though the art, pretty as it is, occasionally is less than clear when it comes to just what is happening.

Though I know I shouldn't complain, there are also a number of historical inaccuracies that just leave me twitching at their inappropriateness.

Great art, unbelievable reason for woman to become a mass murderer.
