A book on the North Pennines, an area offering some of the highest, wildest, most spectacular scenery in the country. The authors explore the landscape, the local and natural history and the lives of the local people through anecdote and local tales. Short walks are indicated and described.
It is a true book and I like it. It's about animals and an oak tree and lots of animals lived on the tree. The tree got chopped down. People came and they used the wood. The people planted pine trees. Some of the animals found a new home but some of them didn't. There were new animals that came to the pine trees like crossbills and pine martens and crested tits.
