This is a great poetry book on baseball. The book has various poems throughout the book, all centering around youth baseball. Some of the poems are really funny, especially if one is familiar with the game of baseball. For example, the Waiting Game on page 20 discusses the waiting and standing around that inevitably occurs throughout the game of baseball. Excuses, Excuses on page 31 was funny as well. If there is ever a game on this planet full of excuses, it is baseball. The poem talks show more about how the player failed to catch a pop fly because of the sun. Some of the excuses are funny, such as, "The catcher smells so bad that he made my strike out". I have never heard that one before, but it is certainly worth of a chuckle. Overall, I really enjoyed this book because the poems captured to the lighter side of baseball. show less
Shows some frustration with life, and some joys. We can take the idea and show how sometimes life is fun and carefree while at other times it is difficult and challenging.
