I obtained this one in e-book format. It is a very different reading experience as the tablet I read it from did not present the full page format in a manner that is legible but reduced from what a paper album would be.

So I had to zoom in on each or two or three of the story vignettes.
A bit at times like zooming in when in a museum on the details of a painting.

What is astounding is that Pellerin's work gains from this treatment as it is so well detailed.
Example when a bird's eye view of show more a fortress by the sea shows two scenes of the action unfolding at the same time.
The hero has lots of adventures and is mistaken for having committed a crime.

There is also a red herring in that the elderly assassinated reveals that the murderers also robbed his ancestor of the pre-Colombian secrets of a statuette giving power to the one who owns it. So picture a French Privateer transformed instantly in an 18th century Sam Spade.

A local britons mob nearly hangs him but he escapes narrowly, while members of the local gentry steal his boat and torture his crew.

Not the first time in literature that a boat captain is victim of an injustice-thinking Edmond Dantes in Dumas' Monte Cristo.

Excellent 18th century story.

Pellerin is a master story teller and volume one ends on a cliffhanger which leads to wanting to read no. 2.

Somptuous story which happens mostly at night in the Bay of Brest in the mid-XVIIIth Century.
