I got this as a kid, so looking at it now, wow is it dated! Phoneboxes, corded telephones, boom boxes, record players... And the hair and clothes styles in the artwork... I really liked it when I read it as a kid, although I never managed to learn much Welsh. That was more on me than the book, though.
Looking at it as an adult, I think the layout is not so great. It's alright for a very brief overview. The pronunciation guide at the back is useful, and there is a two page spread of some basic show more Welsh grammar rules, but the layout of the pages was confusing, and I would have preferred more grammar rules in with the phrases rather than hidden at the end.
I can't comment on the internet linked stuff, because I didn't have access to use it as a kid. I would assume that the links have changed massively in the last twenty years though. show less

Summary:
This is an awesome step-by-step cookbook for children. It has a table of contents with not only words but pictures as well. Provides basic kitchen rules and etiquette, lesson page, and cook's tools. In the beginning of every different section, it shows all the different types of whatever is in that section. Such as, pasta with all the different shaped noodles with real pictures of what they look like and their names.
Personal Reaction:
I love love LOVE this cookbook for children! I show more have young nieces who love to cook with me, and this will be the perfect gift so that we can cook together! I love how it has actual pictures of the things that it is talking about and how it explains with pictures in order and words too. Such a great find!! So glad Mrs. White had it and shared it with the class! I will definitely be adding it to my collection very soon!!
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. This would be awesome to make and laminate copies of a few recipes and place them in your home living center for the children to look out/try to cook with.
2. After checking for allergies (of course) maybe find a simple recipe to make with the class as a whole, like fruit salad or fruit kabobs.
3. Have your students write or draw about a time that they have helped in the kitchen and then do a show and tell. show less

The publisher (DK) and Amazon lists the age range for this cookbook as 5-8, but I'd give it to a child ages 7 and up into high school. Recipes(a well-rounded mix of truly delicious food) range from snacks and milkshakes to entrees and yummy desserts. Each recipe has step-by-step, full-color illustrations, ingredient & equipment list sidebar, and plating tips. Add-ons include kitchen safety rules, common kitchen symbols, a picture glossary of cooking terms, and an index - ideal for the show more beginning chef!
Family fun is a sure thing when cooking in the kitchen together, and The Children's Quick & Easy Cookbook delivers. Also a teaching tool to instruct all learning levels in the parts of a non-fiction text, and reinforce sequencing show less

I remember liking this book as a child and after re-reading it I still like it today! One great thing about this book is that it has "life-size" pictures of the food and the cooking utensils. These pictures are labeled so that students can learn their names. The first couple of pages featured "Cooks Tools" like a picture of a bowl labeled "small bowl". I also liked this book because it has simple recipes that children can make with their parents and can decorate themselves, such as cookie show more recipes and examples of decorations like sprinkles and pictures that show what the cookies look like decorated! Another reason I enjoyed this book is because the names of the recipes are called "Silly Sundaes", "Cheesy Potato Boats" and "Party Pizzas". I feel like this made the recipes seem more approachable and fun for children to attempt and get comfortable cooking! I think the big idea of this book was that cooking can be fun for kids, and it should encourage kids to get into the kitchen and enjoy themselves! show less
