Reviews
This is a very interesting but mostly very technical report on the results of an archaeological study done of the Custer and Reno-Benteen battle locations of the Battle of the Little Big Horn. A good part of the book describes techniques and equipment. It also reviews all the artifacts collected in great detail. For the history minded the meat of the book is the Synthesis and Interpretation section where the authors use the information gathered by the survey to try to give a qualified show more version of the events of that day, based in large part on the physical evident.
Those interested in this approach to the battle should check out Archaeology, History, and Custer's Last Battle: The Little Big Horn Reexamined by Richard A. Fox, one of the authors of Archaeological Perspectives. show less
