I would recommend this as the second or third book you read about grounded theory methodologies. This is the book that started it all, and it is very readable. However, it is written for sociologists, and it is not as clear as it could be on how to go about discovering grounded theories if you have not done much qualitative research already. For this reason, I suggest perhaps reading some other book first--such as Creswell's Qualitative Inquiry and Research Design--and then picking this up show more to understand the motivations behind the methodologies. show less
This is the classic study in which Glaser and Strauss developed their grounded theory (GT) methodology for social science research.
