The emphasis of the designs in this book is on the use of mixed media - fabric,felt,ribbons, wool and shells - an arts and crafts type. Some projects use brightly coloured felt balls and many include intricate machine embroidery. I find it hard to believe hat pins are all that popular these days. There were also a few jewelry box making and trinket bag projects. The best tip was the section on how to sand polish and drill holes in seashells.
This book was very interesting and easy to follow along with. I believe it would be perfect for a second or third grader that is interested in learning more about reptiles and amphibians.
