This is a giant tome full of history, drafts and information about coverlet weaving and surviving textiles from Eastern Canada. There are introductory chapters about weaving equipment used and brief discussions of the basic weaves. Then, we get to the real heart of this book - coverlets. Each of the various structures used is covered in its own chapter; overshot, summer and winter, twill diaper, doublecloth and finally jacquard woven coverlets. There are mostly black and white illustrations show more throughout the book, but it does contain a few color plates. It would be glorious to see it reprinted all in color. There are thread by thread drafts and profile drafts for the weaver that would like to recreate or use some of the designs in this important book. show less
