Bryce Canyon National Park: A Visual Interpretation (A Wish You Were Here Book©) (Wish You Were Here Series) by Nicky Leach
The written portion is colorfully worded though your normal touristy content. Photos are as lovely as other books and post cards at the visitor center. However, I find when it comes to Bryce Canyon, I'm always seeing more or less the same images.
I’ve taken a grandson to Arches 4 times in the last few years. We have only visited and photographed a few spots, so bought this book to get pictures and an introduction to some of the other spots. The pair of books was well worth the $20.
In addition to pretty pictures it includes some useful history and information about the animals, physics of formation, and other life that survives in the desert environment.

Great photos. Unremarkable text. Worth it, if like me you are not a good enough photographer to capture the magnificence of Zion.

I bought it for the pictures, and the text increased my understanding of the area.
"When [Canyonlands] was set aside as a national park in 1964, about 18,000 jeeps a year entered canyonlands, mostly driven expertly by folks … who had grown up in this country. In 2000, a whopping 500,000 jeeps were counted, far more than fragile desert lands can bear." (Page 35)
"Seeing, really seeing, does take time." (Page 39)
"Grand canyon [has] 5 million annual international visitors [to the] south rim, show more ... (Page 53) show less
