So I think this maybe the last book of the Sweet series…though I hope with a passion that it never ends…Sorry Candis Terry.
So we are finally at Jake Wilder’s story and I am thrilled! No literally! I am jumping up and down excited!! But he is not the only hero I fall in love with in this book! Trust me, once you meet Hank!! You will fall in love to.
Jake Wilder is back in Sweet, after the Marines gave him an honorable discharge, whether he wanted it or not. He is still struggling with show more his leg and his mind has trapped him in a hell, where he feels that he is not good enough anymore and he let his men down and he not only lost his own brother to this war. But he lost them men under his command, especially his brother from another mother Eli. To add to the guilt, Eli’s wife was pregnant and Eli would never get to see his baby, and in Jake’s mind, that was his entire fault. But that’s not Jake’s only problem! Oh no! Jake’s other issue is a little Spitfire named Annie!
But life had not been kind to Annie. To begin with she had parents who would abandon her at a moment’s notice. Add to that an ex who ran the moment she told him she was pregnant! So she returned to Sweet and made a life herself and her son Max. But then Jake walked back into her life and sparks flew light a lightning rod in a thunderstorm…but where will they go from here!
This book is truly amazing! It stole my heart, broke it and made it even better! Yes! That’s right! That is just how good the plot is! The characters are amazing, the writing is smooth and you just can’t help but fall in love with everyone. I just add a plea! That Peter Castlewood gets his own story! He needs it, I need it! I don’t think the Wilder Family would be complete without it.
So after all of that, I give Truly Sweet a well-deserved 10 out of 10! show less

I loved this book. I have a soft spot for small town stories anyway and this one was particularly good. Charli has come to town with her makeover show to help give some of the businesses a boost. One of the businesses she wants to do is Reno's hardware store and he wants absolutely nothing to do with it. He likes his store and his town just the way they are and he has no problem telling her so. But Charli isn't going to give up - on the town or on Reno.
I loved both Charli and Reno. Charli is show more the daughter of a military man. Her mom died when she was eight and her dad was never around. They constantly moved around and she was left with a longing to belong somewhere. She never expected to have a job that also kept her on the move. One of the things that she loves about her job is spending time in the small towns and getting to know the people there, even though it always hurts to leave. She liked Sweet as soon as she arrived and couldn't understand what Reno's problem was. She won't give in to his refusal to change and finds ways to get him involved even as he resists. The more she gets to know him the more she realizes that there is more behind his resistance than just grouchiness. She knows she is falling in love with him, but she too worries about the risk to her heart. One of the things I like best about Charli is the way that she is so upbeat about her work. She can see the best in almost anything she looks at. Her love for small towns shows in everything she does, from the changes she makes to the way she makes friends with so many different people. I especially loved the way that she bonded with Reno's mom.
Reno is content with his store and his town just the way they are. He doesn't need some big city woman coming in and changing things around. He's had all the upheaval in his life he can stand and wants nothing more than for Charli to pack up and leave town. He does his best to be uncooperative, but somehow she always seems to get her way. Pretty soon he finds himself enjoying their interactions and the sizzle between them really starts to take off. But Reno refuses to think of a future between them. He uses his refusal to change as a way to protect himself. He clings to the memories of his father, brother and fiancee, thinking that keeping everything the same is the way to honor their memories. I loved seeing the way that Charli starts to chip away at his walls. Sometimes he'll think that a future is possible, but mostly he thinks he doesn't deserve to be happy. I loved seeing him finally let go of his fears.
I also loved the secondary characters. No one was perfect and no one was all bad. Everyone had their own lives and issues both good and bad. I loved Reno's mom and the way that she kept her boys in line when she needed to. She seemed to have that southern velvet covered steel that got her just where she wanted to be. I'm really looking forward to the next one. show less

I have really been into the Sweet Series with the Wilder boys, but this is finally the book I have been waiting for!
So this is a story about Fiona. So if you don’t remember Fiona, she is Jackson ex-wife and the mother to Izzy. You would think she would be bitter, but NO! Jackson, Abby (his fiancée) and Fiona are great friends, which is a marvelous change and as a reader it’s wonderful not to have a snarky and hateful ex-wife in the background.
Anyway, back to the story. Fiona is has show more moved to Sweet to open a cupcake store and so Izzy could be near her father. But Fiona has also made resolutions for herself, they are to make her cupcake store a success and to put naughty Fiona away and find a man that truly loves HER and not just loves her like a friend. But before Fiona even manages to get her cupcake store open, Fiona is caught in a nasty car crash, but luckily Mr. Tall, Dark and Delicious aka Mike Halsey (firefighter and best friend of her ex) comes to the rescue.
Mike is drawn to Fiona like a bee to a flower, but boy! Does the man have some serious baggage! He also is living by the man code; Thou must not covert thy friends Wife/Girl/Ex/Sister, but that doesn’t stop the desire, every time they are in the same room.
After a shaky start, things go smoothly for these love birds, until the past rears its ugly head and family responsibilities threaten to destroy all they have.
Wow, what a book! I cannot even describe too you how sweet and divine this book is! It is honestly my dream sweet romance should be. The writing is flawless, plot hole free and so, so smooth it just flows of the page. So after all that gushing I am delighted to give Sweet Surprise 10 out of 10. show less

Wow, once in a great while I have the privilege of reading that rare can't-put-it-down book. This is one of those books.
Candis Terry is a completely new author to me. I stumbled upon her via an email from Avon announcing some 99-cent books. I noticed the kitten sitting on a football and bought it immediately. I never expected it to be anything special, but I'd just finished a book and was in the mood for a sports romance. Boy, was I in for a treat with this book.
First of all, I read some show more reviews for this book in which the readers were disappointed as the title of the book gives you the impression it's a Christmas romance. It isn't. In fact, only the first part of the book takes place over the holidays. The title is unfortunate because this author received some undeserved poor reviews because of the misleading title.
I didn't care about that. Not one bit because she hooked me in the first chapter, and I never looked back. In fact, thanks to Ms. Terry I didn't get any writing done yesterday because I couldn't drag myself away from this book.
I fell in love with Dean, the hero, in the first chapter and never stopped loving him. He was a real person, multi-dimensional, and the type of hero any writer would be proud to have created. An added bonus is that Ms. Terry knows her football.
The heroine, Emma, was just as deep and enjoyable.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. And Ms. Terry is now on my auto-buy list. I'm heading to Amazon right now to buy the other books in this series. show less
