I found this to be up there will one of the better written books on a particular train. It has been nicely edited and the photos are well done. The embedded tables showing consists and their placement are extremely helpful in following what is going on over time. As I am a collector of schedules and other customer brochure, I enjoyed seeing cover copies of these items from the author's collection. Lots of good detail here AND it doesn't read like a catalog (I'm beginning to sound like a show more broken record on that point). This one is clearly worth adding to your collection if you are a passenger train person. show less
This is most definitely a book for railroad buffs, and in particular those that want to bring back the 1930s and 1940s mode of intercity railroad travel. I'm one of them, so I loved this book. The chapter I liked the best was the one where the author re-created how one would have booked Pulllman trips in the postwar era. The mass of pictures is delightful and informative. As I say, a railroad buff's book. Recommended by one.
